The Woodstock Navy Vets are proud to announce that defenceman Will McGregor has been named team captain for the 2026-27 season, becoming the first player to wear the “C” for the Navy Vets in the GOHL.
A returning member of last season’s team, McGregor earned the opportunity through the professionalism, maturity, work ethic and competitiveness he has demonstrated both on and off the ice.
The Ottawa native played a significant role for the Navy Vets last season and is one of four returning players making the jump with the organization from the PJHL to the GOHL.
For McGregor, leadership starts with the way he approaches the game every day.
The 2007-born defenceman is relentless on the ice. He never takes a shift off, competes in difficult areas and is extremely hard to play against. He’s also quick to stand up for his teammates and has earned the respect of those around him through the consistency of his effort and preparation.
Off the ice, McGregor brings the same approach. His professionalism and maturity have made him a natural leader within the dressing room and someone the organization believes represents what it means to be a Woodstock Navy Vet.

“Will’s presence on the ice, leadership in the room, and selfless attitude make him an easy choice to represent our group for our first GOHL season. A tough guy to play against who leads by example, we’re hoping for big things out of Will and this entire group this season.”
For an organization entering a new era, naming its first GOHL captain carries additional significance. McGregor already understands the expectations and culture within the Navy Vets organization and will now play an important role in helping establish those standards within a new group.
McGregor will lead the Navy Vets into their first GOHL season as the organization prepares to celebrate its 60th season of hockey in Woodstock.
