The Woodstock Navy Vets are pleased to continue the organization’s “Welcome to Anchortown” series with the signing of goaltender Ian Kubelka for the 2026-27 season.
A 2009-born goaltender from Woodstock, Ontario, Kubelka joins the Navy Vets after spending last season with the Huron Perth Lakers U18 AAA program. A local product, Ian has continued to develop into one of the area’s top young goaltenders through his dedication, work ethic, and steady play between the pipes.
Kubelka has demonstrated consistent play over the past two seasons. During the 2024-25 campaign, he posted an outstanding 0.90 goals-against average before following it up with a strong 2.64 goals-against average during the 2025-26 season while competing at the U18 AAA level.
“We’re excited to welcome Ian and his family to the Navy Vets,” said Darren Young, General Manager of the Woodstock Navy Vets. “Ian is a technically sound goaltender who competes hard every day and is committed to improving his game. He’s a local player with tremendous character and work ethic, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to be a part of his continued development.”
Kubelka’s calm presence in the crease, technical foundation, and willingness to put in the work have allowed him to continue progressing each season. Those qualities, combined with his competitive mindset, make him an exciting addition to the Navy Vets’ goaltending group.
Adding another Woodstock native to the roster is also an exciting moment for the organization and its fans, as Kubelka will have the opportunity to continue his hockey journey while representing his hometown community.
The Woodstock Navy Vets are excited to welcome Ian and his family to Anchortown and look forward to seeing him continue his development in a Navy Vets uniform.
