Welcome to Anchortown: Navy Vets Sign Forward Cole Shoup

The Woodstock Navy Vets are pleased to continue the organization’s “Welcome to Anchortown” series with the signing of forward Cole Shoup for the 2026-27 season.

A 2008-born forward from Springfield, Ontario, Shoup joins the Navy Vets after a strong season with the Dorchester Dolphins of the PJHL. A familiar face within the Doherty Division, Cole recorded 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points in 42 regular season games while continuing to establish himself as a dependable, hard-working forward.

Having competed against Dorchester several times throughout the season, the Navy Vets organization had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the type of player Shoup is and the impact he can have on a game.

“We’re excited to welcome Cole and his family to the Navy Vets,” said Darren Young, General Manager of the Woodstock Navy Vets. “Cole is a player we’ve had the chance to watch quite a bit over the past season. He competes every shift, has a tremendous work ethic, and possesses more than enough skill to make an impact offensively. Having already played a full season of junior hockey in the Doherty Division, he also brings valuable experience that will benefit our group.”

Shoup plays the game with a relentless compete level and isn’t afraid to battle for pucks or do the little things that help teams win. Combined with his offensive ability and junior experience, he brings a well-rounded game that fits exactly what the Navy Vets are looking to build.

As a player from nearby Springfield, Shoup also adds another local connection to the roster as the organization continues assembling a team that reflects both talent and strong community ties.

The Woodstock Navy Vets are excited to welcome Cole and his family to Anchortown and look forward to seeing him continue his hockey journey in a Navy Vets uniform.
