Welcome to Anchortown: Navy Vets Sign Defenceman Colby Branton

The Woodstock Navy Vets are pleased to continue the organization’s “Welcome to Anchortown” series with the signing of defenceman Colby Branton for the 2026-27 season.

A 2009-born defenceman from London, Ontario, Branton joins the Navy Vets after spending last season with the London Jr. Knights U18 AAA program.

During the 2025-26 season, Branton recorded 4 goals and 16 assists for 20 points in 33 regular season games while continuing to establish himself as one of the top young defencemen in the region. His strong play also earned him the opportunity to appear in six games as an affiliate player with the Caledon Admirals of the OJHL, providing valuable experience at the junior level.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Colby and his family to the Navy Vets,” said Darren Young, General Manager of the Woodstock Navy Vets. “Colby is an outstanding skater who can make high-end plays with the puck. He has the ability to create offence from the back end while also digging in defensively, and we believe he has tremendous upside as he continues to develop.”

Branton’s skating ability allows him to impact the game in every zone. Whether it’s escaping pressure, leading the rush, or making a smart first pass, he consistently puts his teammates in good positions while maintaining a strong defensive presence.

His combination of skating, hockey sense, and competitiveness makes him an exciting addition to the Navy Vets’ blue line as the organization continues to build a talented and well-rounded roster.

The Woodstock Navy Vets are excited to welcome Colby and his family to Anchortown and look forward to seeing him continue his hockey journey in Woodstock.
