The Woodstock Navy Vets are pleased to continue the organization’s “Welcome to Anchortown” series with the return of defenceman Will McGregor for the 2026-27 season.
Another returning member from last year’s team, McGregor played a significant role on the Navy Vets’ blue line throughout the 2025-26 season. The 2007-born defenceman from Ottawa, Ontario quickly became an important part of the team’s success through his consistent play, leadership, and ability to contribute at both ends of the ice.
McGregor recorded 5 goals and 12 assists in 34 regular season games before adding 2 goals and 4 assists in 17 playoff contests. While his offensive contributions were certainly valuable, his impact extended far beyond the scoresheet.
“Will was a huge part of our team last season,” said Darren Young, General Manager of the Woodstock Navy Vets. “He’s extremely hard to play against, moves the puck very well, and defends at a high level. Beyond what he brings on the ice, he’s a tremendous teammate and a very high-character individual. Those are the types of players you want in your organization.”
Known for his skating ability, puck movement, and reliability in the defensive zone, McGregor has developed into a well-rounded defenceman capable of impacting the game in a variety of ways. His competitiveness and attention to detail make him a difficult matchup for opposing forwards, while his ability to transition the puck helps drive play in the right direction.
Away from the rink, McGregor is currently attending the University of Guelph, a reflection of the commitment and character that have helped him succeed both on and off the ice.
The Woodstock Navy Vets are excited to welcome Will back to Anchortown and look forward to seeing him continue to play a key role for the organization this season.
