Navy Vets Open GOHL Era with Strong Prospects Camp

The Woodstock Navy Vets opened another exciting chapter in franchise history this past weekend with a highly successful Prospects Camp ahead of the club’s inaugural season in the GOHL.

Players from across Ontario and beyond travelled to Woodstock for the weekend, giving the Navy Vets an opportunity to evaluate a deep and talented group of young athletes competing for future opportunities within the organization.

From the opening puck drop to the final buzzer, the pace and energy on the ice were evident throughout the weekend. Every scrimmage featured a high level of compete, with players showcasing skill, speed, and determination as they looked to make an impression heading into the 2026-27 season.

Beyond the talent level on display, the organization was equally impressed with the character shown by the players in attendance.

“The compete level was excellent all weekend, but what really stood out was the quality of the kids,” said Darren Young, General Manager of the Woodstock Navy Vets. “They were respectful, attentive, hardworking, and brought a tremendous attitude to the rink every day. That’s an important part of what we want to build here in Woodstock.”

The weekend marked another important milestone as the Navy Vets continue preparations for Year One in the Greater Ontario Hockey League. While the camp represented a strong first step, the organization’s recruiting efforts remain fully active as the roster continues to take shape.

The Woodstock Navy Vets would also like to thank the referees, timekeepers, volunteers, and staff members who helped make the weekend possible. Their efforts and professionalism played a major role in the success of the event as excitement continues to build toward the inaugural GOHL season.
