Woodstock strikes early but Panthers capitalize on second-period opportunities to secure the victory.
PELHAM, ON – October 25, 2026 – The Woodstock Navy Vets wrapped up their weekend with a 6-3 loss to the Pelham Panthers on Sunday afternoon at the Meridian Community Centre.
Coming off Friday’s 4-2 comeback victory over Komoka during the organization’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the Navy Vets were looking to build on that momentum in their first meeting of the season with the Panthers.
Fast Start Gives Way to Back-and-Forth Opening Period
The Navy Vets couldn’t have asked for a better start.
Just 25 seconds into the contest, Jacob Scarpelli found the back of the net to give Woodstock an early 1-0 advantage.
Pelham responded with a pair of goals midway through the opening period to take a 2-1 lead.
The Vets answered at the 16:36 mark when Kyle Arthur scored to bring the game even at two.
However, the Panthers regained the lead just over a minute later, sending the teams into the first intermission with Pelham ahead 3-2.
Panthers Extend Their Lead in the Second
The second period proved to be the difference as Pelham capitalized on a four-on-four situation.
The Panthers scored twice just 30 seconds apart to extend their advantage to 5-2 heading into the final period.
Spirited Third Period Closes Out the Contest
The third period featured plenty of intensity, with both teams continuing to compete and two fights adding to the physical nature of the contest.
Each team found the back of the net once in the final frame, bringing the final score to 6-3 in favour of Pelham.
Despite the result, the Navy Vets will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for another road matchup in the coming days.

The Navy Vets return to action on Wednesday, October 28, when they travel to LaSalle to face the Vipers.
Woodstock will look to get back into the win column as the team continues its busy October schedule.
