The Woodstock Navy Vets have strengthened their forward group with the recent additions of Maddyx Chaput, Hudsyn Chaput and Jacob Scarpelli.
All three are talented 2009-born forwards with strong AAA backgrounds who add skill and offensive upside to an already young Navy Vets roster.
The organization believes the additions make the group stronger today while providing three more young players with significant potential to continue developing at the junior level.
“We really like the young core we have here and we feel these three additions make that group even stronger,” said General Manager Darren Young. “All three are talented players with significant upside. We believe they fit well with the group we have and we’re excited to see them continue to develop here in Woodstock.”
Maddyx and Hudsyn Chaput
The Navy Vets acquired twin forwards Maddyx and Hudsyn Chaput from the St. Marys Lincolns.
Both are coming off impressive seasons with the Huron-Perth Lakers U18 AAA program.
Maddyx led the Lakers in scoring last season, recording 26 goals and 36 assists for 62 points in just 35 games. A dynamic offensive player and natural playmaker, he also gained GOHL experience as an affiliate with St. Marys, including eight playoff games.
Hudsyn finished second in team scoring with 20 goals and 26 assists for 46 points in 35 games. He also suited up for six games with the Lincolns last season.
Hudsyn brings a combination of scoring and playmaking ability along with strong skating and a bigger frame.
Together, the Chaput twins bring another significant offensive element to the Navy Vets forward group.
Scarpelli Brings Offensive Upside
Woodstock has also acquired 2009-born forward Jacob Scarpelli from the Fort Erie Meteors.
Scarpelli spent last season with the Burlington Eagles U18 AAA program, recording six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 30 games.
The year prior, Scarpelli put together an impressive U16 AAA season with the Halton Hurricanes. He recorded 26 goals and 23 assists for 49 points in just 31 games, demonstrating his ability to both finish and create offensively.
A skilled forward with significant offensive upside, Scarpelli adds another talented young player to the Navy Vets forward group.
Adding to the Group
The additions of Maddyx, Hudsyn and Scarpelli continue to strengthen a Navy Vets roster that already features a number of talented young players.
All three bring different elements to the lineup, but share the ability to create offence and have considerable room to continue growing as junior hockey players.
The Navy Vets believe the moves add more skill and depth to the forward group while complementing the players already in place.
As part of the recent roster movement, the club has also released forward Emre Alves. The Navy Vets thank Emre for his contributions to the organization and wish him all the best moving forward.
With the three additions now joining the group, the focus turns to getting them integrated into the lineup and continuing to build as the season moves forward.
